2024 Western Clydesdales - U17 Female Development Challenge - Testing & ID Session - October 4

In 2024, the Queensland Rugby League have introduced an U17 girls' development challenge that will be incorporated as part of the Statewide Competition schedule.  Here is what the Junior QRL Statewide Competitions will look like in 2024:

 

2024 - QRL Junior Statewide Competiton - Male Pathways

  • U17 Boys - Cyril Connell Challenge
  • U19 Boys - Mal Meninga Cup

 

2024 - QRL Junior Statewide Competiton - Female Pathways

  • U17 Girls - Female Development Challenge
  • U19 Girls - Harvey Norman Cup

 

As the U17 girls have been included in the schedule, the Western Clydesdales RLFC are currently seeking expressions of interest of age eligible girls who aspire to be selected in the U17 girls' squad, to attend a Testing & ID session on Wednesday 4th October which will be conducted by the Western Clydesdales football staff. Testing & ID session details

Date: Wednesday 4th October 2023

Time: 5-7pm

Venue: Clive Berghofer Stadium Toowoomba (Toowoomba Sports Ground)

Eligibility: Females born 2007, 2008 & 2009

EOI Close: Tuesday 3rd October

Selection Policy Update

The Western Clydesdales selection of all Junior Statewide Competition teams (Cyril Connell Challenge, Mal Meninga Cup, Harvey Norman U19's, U17 Regional Carnival) as well as all South-West Queensland Academies established in partnership with Canterbury-Bulldogs, are based on:

 

Performance in:

    • Club/Community Rugby League
    • Testing & Talent ID sessions
    • School Rugby League
    • Representative Rugby League
    • Development Programs (e.g. RISE)
    • Academy Programs
    • Alternative sporting codes relevant to Rugby League

       

Potential to be successful in Rugby League based on:

    • Athletic/Physical Potential
    • Character/Personality
