The Western Clydesdales are pleased to announce that Sam Elvy, Assistant Coach of our Hostplus Cup side in 2023 and 2024, will step into a new position as Pathways Development Manager for 2025. In his new role, Sam will focus on the critical task of strengthening player pathways, junior development and coach development in the region.
With a wealth of experience in rugby league - spanning player development, coaching, and high-performance roles - Sam is eager to take on this new challenge.
“Developing young talent in rugby league has the potential to make a lasting impact on both boys and girls in South West Queensland,” said Elvy. “I see my role as a key part of their journey, helping them refine their skills and set them up for success at the next stage of their careers. My goal is to ensure they reach their full potential.”
Elvy also highlighted the importance of coach development, emphasizing how growing the skill set of the region’s coaches contributes to the overall growth of the sport in our footprint. “Developing our coaches is just as crucial as developing players and it’s an essential part of nurturing the future of rugby league in our community.”
Western Clydesdales CEO Shane Sullivan expressed his enthusiasm for Elvy's appointment: “Sam’s appointment as Pathways Development Manager is a significant step forward for our club and the entire rugby league community in South West Queensland,”
