Our under 21s recorded their first win of the Hastings Deering Colts season with a nail-biting 37-34 win over Burleigh at Glenholme Park.

The Clydesdales picked up the two points in the penultimate round of the regular season against a Bears line-up playing to stay in the hunt for a finals berth.

We made a great start with tries to Chayse Cavanagh and Caleb Pfingst in the opening 10 minutes to get out to an early 12-0 lead.

Burleigh hit back with two tries to make it 12-8 before Nicholas Ingram crashed over for a try in the 30th minute, and five-eighth Elliott Speed slotted a field goal in the shadows of half-time to hold a 19-8 lead at the break.

Tries to Lachlan Ghee, Alex Brighton and Alex Donn just after half-time got the Clydesdales out to a 37-8 lead and eyeing our first win of the Colts season.

But looking to keep their finals hopes alive, Burleigh hit back scoring five-straight tries in 20 minutes to make it 37-34 with two minutes to play.

The Clydesdales held on despite some tense moments in the closing stages for a drought-breaking win.
